~ Part 1 ~

Effort is not always rewarded.
There’s a will doesn’t necessary mean there’s a way.

When was it that her heart started growing cold. In club activities, she left behind people who made more effort than herself and was chosen as a regular, at that time she understood that was mostly by talent, she came to know that there was things that couldn’t be filled no matter hard you try in this world.
Even so, she was a regular. An important person who pulled her comrade toward victory. After that, she tried harder than anyone else, showing her willpower. Before long, her surroundings came to recognize her as «A person of effort and willpower», and she herself started keeping in mind to act that way.

Always efforts and willpower.
Put in my soul.
My heart is hot.
Like a flame.
I, am burning.

It was a dreary downright lie. Every time she said words like those, she clearly perceived her heart growing cold. What brought forth this superficial passion was her cold and cruel true nature. Even if you talk about dream, reality can’t be overthrown.
Her friends in the class believed that they could go home. On the surface, she complied with that. No, even in her heart, she should have consented and complied. But the world couldn’t be so convenient. Somewhere in her heart was cold.

When the 2nd teleport incident happened, the ‘as I thought’ feeling was stronger.

Would there be any method to the turn to their world in this circumstance?
Not that there wasn’t. But it was exceedingly unlikely.

The feeling of wanting to believe was always there. Not giving up and continuing to believed are both important. No matter how she tried convincing herself, her true nature always showed a chilly smile, overlooking herself.

Feelings are meaningless.
The world has no heart.
Reality is cruel.
It’s refreshingly cold.
Just like ice.

Soon, Yukinoshita Suzuka would become unable to deceive herself anymore.

They decided to build a temporary base in the lush hilly area. Nevertheless, cutting down trees aside, they would have a hard time when it comes to constructing. Neither the students who had that racial ability nor students who had the knowledge were with them. As a result, the cut down trees was put together in the shape of character and a crude, unstable dog house was finished.

“This makes me understand well how blessed our environment so far has been…”

Muttered Kyousuke while putting the magic sword he snatched from the adventurers on his shoulder.

“Well, it’s good work that we can do this much. For now, we can endure wind and rain.”

Karasuma placed his hands on his hip, nodding.

“Rather than that, Utsurogi. Is there nothing strange about your left hand?”
“Nn, right. More or less. It feels out of place, but it does move properly.”

Kyousuke raised the left arm that was somewhat longer than his left, showing it.
The other day, Kyousuke lost his left arm in the battle with the adventures. Luckily, he was a skeleton, if a different arm was grafted, it could function properly. Kyousuke had collected this left arm from the corpse of the lesser demon with Karasuma and Yukinoshita’s help.
It was a scene he couldn’t show Azuki whose Filter was cut, if possible, he didn’t want to show Rin either, so he requested these two to company him. They scrapped off its flesh, dried it, then connect the arm that became only bone and it surprisingly worked out somehow.

An unidentified unit has been connected, or some similar system message didn’t appear?”
“I did not…. Karasuma, you also play games?”
“I play quite a lot action games. Not as much as your otaku group though.”

Karasuma made use of a speech of a certain famous game, Kyousuke unintentionally snapped at it. I see, even if we’re classmates, there are still many things I don’t know unless we talk one-to-one like this.

“But perhaps, those type of games are more Kogane’s specialties. I belong to the retro game faction.”
“Heh. Please lend me some when we return.”
“I don’t know when it will be though.”

While repeating such conversation with Karasuma, Kyousuke confirmed his left arm.

The lesser demon’s left arm seemed to have been recognized as a part of Kyousuke’s body. In fact, when he placed Rin on his left arm, «Characteristics Amplification» properly invoked. However, the strangely thorny and larger arm didn’t quite feel intuitively accustomed.
As a matter of fact, Kyousuke was hoping that the arm bone of this demon would cause some kind of side effect. Presently, Karasuma and Yukinoshita’s Filter didn’t cut off yet, but if that moment was to come, there was no proof that they would be able to overcome it. Kyousuke and Rin could only work harder. In that case, could this right arm become a new power somehow? So was his thought.

If he spoke about that, he might be terribly angry at. Therefore, he didn’t say it. Though Rin, for instance, seemed to have already noticed.

“Yaho–oo! Thank you for waiting everyone–!”

At that time, Rin’s lively voice could be heard from the other side. Azuki and Yukinoshita were also together. The girls were holding a big wooden bucket, therein filled with plenty of water and lots of clams were cramped inside.
While Kyousuke and Karasuma were progressing the base construction, everyone else had gone out to search for food. Rin group went clamming on the beach, Kabeno and Ozashiki searched for fruits in the forest. With this lineup, it wouldn’t become a problem even no matter how much ingredients they gathered. Because the surplus could be deep freeze by Yukinoshita.

“Clams, is it…? As I thought, making clam rice will be delicious…”
“There’s no rice, no soy sauce, no mirin, no sugar. Don’t ask for luxury!”

∗Thud∗, Rin dropped the wooden bucket on the ground. In the plentiful seawater, the clams were spitting out sands.

“Hey, if we sun dry the seawater in this bucket, we can collect salt, can’t we?”
“Oh, that’s good that’s good. Salt is good.”

Rin leaned her body forward, approving Karasuma’s proposal.
Taking out buckets were an ability of Mitarai Azuki who was an azuki-arai. Kyousuke thought that she always carried them around, never did he expect it to be something created with her ability.
By the way, it was knitted with magic power or something, after 24 hours had passed, the wooden bucket would disappear. The number of wooden buckets Azuki could produce in 1 day was roughly about 10. Azuki too, gladly prepared buckets and water, saying if her ability could be helpful.

For now, Kyousuke was relieved that the thing that could be called society was being made again. What necessary was a human life.

“We got fruits.”

∗Rustle, rustle∗, the trees of the forest wriggled, from the other side returned the nurikabe girl. Where did Ozashiki went? Thinking so, Kyousuke moved his gaze and there he stood right in the girl’s shadow. His shadow was thin like the background as ever.

“Shall we make a fire. Utsurogi, if you please.”

Being told by Karasuma, Kyousuke set up the magic sword. Concentrating his mind, loading his spirit, the sword blade was cladded in flame. The adventurer whose sword got stolen would never thought that it was being used instead of a lighter, but thanks to that, their eating habits had been considerably improved.
Those adventurers, what are they doing really? Worry was worry, but minding it too much wasn’t good.

When he set fire to the firewood, everyone stabbed the clams and fruits to skewers they prepared beforehand and started roasting them.

“And then, what do we do after this?”

Kabeno who couldn’t help out because of her short arms, asked.

“What do we do you say? Of course it’s break out. Leave this continent and aim for Werneus.”

While diligently skewering the clams, Karasuma answered.

“I wonder if it’s possible. I think it takes time to cross the sea after all?”
“If we don’t give up, we’ll manage somehow. Right? Yukinoshita.”
“Yes yes, everything is on fire.”

Even when she was suddenly talked to, Yukinoshita Suzuka tightly clenched her fist and showed a sultry smile.

Yukinoshita Suzuka was a member of the woman volleyball club who reincarnated as a snow woman. That soaring tension was characteristic of the hot blooded girl, her positive thinking and pushiness rivaled that of Saruwatari Fuuta of the baseball club. Or rather, they were the twin stars as the hot blooded high tension athletes.
Hot blooded snow woman, just by saying that, Yukinoshita had already made quite a character, but there was also the thing about how her body melted when her tension went up.

“Kyousuke has also formally take back his arm! Our battle has just begun! We will never lose, stand up!”
“Stand up now and do what?”
“It’s a matter of feelings, a matter of heart!”

While skewering the clams, Yukinoshita insisted.

“We must not give up! If we give up, even what we can do, we can no longer do it, only because you continue believing that there’s things we can do! Make the impossible possible! We’ll cause a miracle!”
“Everyone can’t be as optimistic as Yukinoshita-san.”

Kabeno’s casual speech. Kyousuke lined up next to Rin and was silently skewering the clams, but that instant, he saw Yukinoshita slightly returned to a serious look. It was a chilly look one couldn’t imagine from her who always smiled and scattered passionate speeches.
But she immediately put back her smile.

“I think it’s better to have at least one person like this? I, you know, am poor at thinking about difficult stuffs!”
“Well, it’s true that we’ve been saved by that tension before.”
“Ah ha ha! I’ll do my best, I can do it!”

Thumbs up, Yukinoshita showed her white teeth.

“Trying hard is fine, but don’t push yourself.”

Kyousuke strongly reminded.

“If your filter is cut, you may become unable to move. Especially the type like Yukinoshita and Karasuma is dangerous.”
“Are you worrying about me!? Thank you, Utsurogi-kun! Your passionate heart, I has perfectly received it!”

It’s sudden, but Yukinoshita was a beauty. Snow women were mostly beauties so it’s natural. Therefore when she gazed directly at him and winked, it was a somewhat charming scene. Kyousuke understood that the slime next to him puffed up.
Nonetheless, he dodged her. While skewering the clams, Kyousuke thought.

Until now, he had never thought about it too properly. Yukinoshita Suzuka, why did she reincarnated as a race like snow woman? The reincarnated target monster received a certain degree of influence by one’s mentality. If a type like Yukinoshita, she should have reincarnated as a wisp like Akira or a salamander or something.

Among this group, only Kyousuke and Rin had woken up to Phase 2. That is to say, the most of the members here didn’t solve the problem within themselves or didn’t notice it. That might have been fine until now, however….

“Rin.”

While Yukinoshita was attracting the surroundings’ attention with her high tension style, Kyousuke secretly called the puffed up Rin.

“There’s something I want to consult later.”
“Nn…, Understood.”

As if she had guessed the gist with only those words, Rin nodded. It was really helpful that she was a quick to understand girl.

“Everyone, be hotter–. Put more spirit to it–!”

Same as ever, Yukinoshita Suzuka was raising her tension, enough to make the surroundings smile bitterly.
